  NOT JUST 'BIODEGRADEABLE' ON LAND

Created by yacht crew for yacht crew with the help of a sailing community, yachting community and family (literally)... one of our chemists is part of the family and the other 2 are pirated from the leading marine cleaner brands!

We are led by two Master 3000 Captains with over 50 years combined experience ranging from the Royal Navy, Antarctic Survey to some of the largest Superyachts in the world and three chemists with yachting experience who all have the perfect insight as well as connections to test ON REAL YACHTS, not just labs or short term.

As professional mariners we noticed that all the so called 'Biodegradable' products contained 'ACUTE AQUATIC TOXINS' as per the IMDG code or had Safety Data Sheets (SDS) thats simple were doctored claiming 'Proprietary Trade Secrets'. The labels all said 'Biodegradeable' with some even claiming MARPOL and CLEAN MARINAS endorsements. Some were even bold enough to list MARPOL annexes that didn't exist.

The real problem is that the further we delved the more we found the majority of product manufacturers out there selling 'BOAT SOAPS' or 'MARINE CLEANERS' are using a land aquifer based toxicity data sets but worse still over 75% were simply white label car soaps re branded with a few ingredient changes for softer marine paints. With this knowledge and completely unclear MARPOL guidance we set out to create what we believe not only meets the convention but also could lay the groundwork for truly eco conscious industry regulation for yachts and boats of all sizes.

We looked at ENZYMES, ORGANICS and INDUSTRIAL CHEMICALS with an open mind and then set to work. We kept getting the same message about ENZYMES, 'they are unstable, have a life of no more than 2 days unless packed with aquatically TOXIC preservatives so you just end up with dirty water' , 'the dirty secret about enzymes is that they pose a serious risk of occupational exposure ASTHMA to everyone who uses them in aerosol spray form (https://www.enzymetechnicalassociation.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Working-Safely-with-Enzymes-Nov2017-English.pdf ) even worse some enzymes pose a silent threat to people who are at risk of ANAPHYLACTIC shock (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4806342/) & 'they cant degrease or lift dirt without using inorganic industrial chemicals that causes them to unfold making them literally dead'. We looked at organics and found over a period of 3 years 3 completely unutilised organic foaming, thickening and stabilizing compounds that are COMPLETELY NON TOXIC that don't even need a CAS# or listing as a chemical with any side effects. An industry first if we could get them to work in syncrony.

Our original idea was to find a simpler less toxic way to clean the teak on superyachts. The worst job of any sailor, maintaining teak is like an opinion, everybody has one, every cleaning company claims to have the best, the best selling even uses the term ECO in their name with the claim of non toxic, yet 2 of their main ingredients have aquatic toxicity because, well they just are. So, with that in mind we set out on a three year, on the job mission to create the 'possibly the world's best teak cleaner' that would change opinions, didn't burn stainless or skin and was designed from the ground up to harmonise with teak (TECTONA GRANDIS) by exciting its natural PH growth environment and tannins that give it the beautiful golden glow when new.

After we established ourselves on 50 vessels in 1 year with 100% repeat business, we started to introduce our other cleaners that employ transparent OCEAN-DEGRADABLE™ rated ingredients DEPENDENT ON MG/L IN REAL WORLD USE AND RUNOFF.

Sail forward another year and in 2024 we are growing with more products that our customers love, coming up with new ideas and loving the journey.
